10. Kansas (17-3)

It wouldn’t be controversial to say that the Big 12 is the best basketball conference this season, nor that Kansas may be in shape to win another one of those league titles. Bill Self has a way of building these successful teams and he has another team that can win a national title this season. However, things have a way of going awry for the Jayhawks in the postseason, and their performance this weekend is hopefully not a harbinger of things to come.

The Jayhawks started the week earning a hard-fought 94-91 double-overtime win over a very good Texas Tech squad, with Ochai Agbaji’s legendary 37-point effort helping lead the way. The ball didn’t bounce their way over the weekend, dropping a stunning 80-62 loss to Kentucky at home. The Jayhawks played one of their worst offensive games of the season and failed to defend Allen Fieldhouse.

We can’t ignore what happened on Saturday, but we can chalk some of that up to Kentucky being an incredible team this season and really having their number. Still, Kansas got an immensely important win over Texas Tech this week and still sit atop the Big 12 standings at 6-1. The road ahead isn’t easy, with a road date with Iowa State and a highly-anticipated home date with Baylor next week.
