7. Baylor (18-3)

The Baylor Bears are the defending national champions who were also the final unbeaten team this season, despite the fact that many of the difference makers this season are new to the roster. Scott Drew has found a way to put together another team that looks like it can make a run at eternal glory, but that doesn’t mean his Bears are perfect or unbeatable.

Before we get into that, the Bears started the week in style, with an impressive 74-49 win against Kansas State, one of their best all-around performances of the season. Jonathan Tchamwa Tchatchoua was one of four in double-digits, with a 13-point, 12-rebound performance. Saturday was a different tale, as the Bears fell 87-78 on the road to Alabama, suffering their first road loss of the season.

That 15-0 start was just a few weeks ago, and this Baylor team certainly looks like one of the nation’s best despite some recent struggles. It’s hard to know exactly what we can expect from the Bears moving forward, but this is a top contender not only for the Big 12 crown but to make another deep run in the NCAA Tournament. The intrigue doesn’t die down either, as there’s a very enticing road game at Kansas next weekend for the Bears.
