West Region

(1) Gonzaga vs. (16) Weber St/South Dakota St
(8) Boise State vs. (9) St Mary’s (CA)
(4) Illinois vs. (13) San Francisco
(5) USC vs. (12) Wyoming
(6) Iowa State vs. (11) Oregon/San Diego State
(3) Wisconsin vs. (14) Wright State
(7) Indiana vs. (10) Colorado State
(2) Arizona vs. (15) Seattle

Gonzaga basketball is the No. 1 seed in the West Region and the proverbial Overall No. 1 seed of the projected field of 68 if the tournament began today. With some other top teams taking losses this week, the Bulldogs remain perfect in WCC basketball action at 9-0 with an 89-51 victory over Pacific on Thursday night.

The last of the “Last Four In” squads are in the West Region with Oregon and San Diego State as the teams squarely on the bubble with the potential to find themselves out of the field as one of the four play-in games to kick off the NCAA Tournament.

St. Mary’s, San Francisco, and Wyoming are the ones to watch in the region as at-large bids in the NCAA Tournament, though their seeding could rise or fall depending on results. St. Mary’s basketball is 3-4 against Q1 teams and 3-1 against Q2 teams but they’re coming off a loss to Santa Clara with two meetings against Gonzaga, a meeting with San Francisco and a meeting with BYU left on the slate.

San Francisco basketball is fresh off a 69-68 loss to Portland on Tuesday night and has both St. Mary’s and Gonzaga left on the schedule. They’re still 2-3 against Q1 squads and 4-2 against Q2 squads but also 7-1 against Q4 teams. There’s zero room for error left for them

Wyoming basketball is 2-2 against Q1 teams, 5-1 against Q2 teams, and 12-0 against the other two quadrants. They’ve won five in a row with San Jose State on the slate for Saturday night.
