Arkansas

Over the last few seasons, the SEC has been markedly improved, especially the resurgence of programs like Alabama, Auburn, LSU, and Tennessee in recent years. Arkansas is another one of those teams that have had some great basketball moments but have really come on recently, especially since Eric Musselman’s hiring three seasons ago. After some major struggles right around New Year’s, his Razorbacks have really turned things on in recent weeks.

Their long winning streak included a fantastic road win at LSU, but they punctuated it with an impressive overtime win over #1 Auburn, snapping the Tigers’ long streak with an 80-76 win. JD Notae had 28 points in the win and has been electric for the Razorbacks this season. Unfortunately, they couldn’t quite get two impressive wins this week, falling 68-67 at Alabama over the weekend. The week was still a definite success for Arkansas.

The Razorbacks are just outside the top 30 in the NET rankings, but this win over Auburn is definite currency with the Selection Committee. Stockpiling wins in recent weeks, Arkansas is certainly solidifying their place in the field of 68, especially with a big win like this on their resume. The Razorbacks can further solidify their place in the coming weeks with a slew of tough games, but for this week they took a very important step forward.
