NCAA Basketball: Arizona, Kentucky, Memphis and Fresno State headline Sunday Mailbag

After this last week of games who is closer to a Number 1 seed, Arizona or Kentucky? – Jason Burgess (@Collegehoopsguy)
Last week both Kentucky and Arizona had some key wins to bolster their resume. Two weeks ago Kentucky blasted Kansas at Phog Allen and looked like a sure-fire one seed, while around the same time Arizona got smoked by UCLA and everyone questioned whether or not they were as good as they looked.
Then last week Kentucky held true and won the games they were supposed to with a big road win over Alabama. Arizona ended up beating two ranked teams and got their revenge against UCLA.
We will all find out today what the committee thinks as they are going to give us a preview into the top 16 seeds in the tournament. This will provide a great look into who the one seeds are going to be.
Right now, I believe that Arizona will get the other one seed and is going to be deserving of that ranking. The hard part is which bracket to put them in to because Gonzaga is going to have the 1 seed in the West, Auburn the South, and Purdue the Midwest, so that leaves Arizona in the East, which would be far from home for the Wildcats.
Heading into play on Sunday the Wildcats currently have six quad 1 wins with the best win being over UCLA. The Wildcats do not have a loss outside of Quad 1 and have a top 2 NET. That is the resume of a 1 seed. Kentucky has four quad wins and all four of their losses are in the first quadrant as well. Their NET is in the top 5. Their resume is also worthy of a 1 seed, but they will likely be the first two seeds.
It will be interesting to see how it plays out. At this point the committee will try and get a top seed from the Pac 12 in Arizona, Big Ten in Purdue, SEC in Auburn, and Gonzaga being the overall number 1 seed. However, it plays out these two teams are going to be one of the top 8 seeds in the tournament and are massive threats to cut down the nets.
