NCAA Basketball top 25 power rankings: Texas Tech rises, Baylor and Providence fall

7. Kentucky (22-5)
Kentucky has played like a championship contender this season, which should come no surprise on a John Calipari team full of future stars. Last season was an abhorrent result for the Wildcats, but they seem to be back in a major way this season, sitting near the top of the SEC standings once again. There have been some impressive wins in recent weeks, putting the Wildcats in great shape for a 1-seed in the NCAA Tournament.
This week, however, the Wildcats stubbed their toe, dropping a tough 76-63 road game at Tennessee, a stark contrast from their 28-point win over the Volunteers in January. Kentucky did bounce back with a nice win on Saturday, taking care of Alabama with a great offensive effort in a 90-81 win. Kellan Grady had 25 points while star Oscar Tshiebwe had 21 points and 14 rebounds in the bounce-back victory.
Kentucky remains 11-3 in the SEC and in fantastic shot moving forward. There’s still a very good chance for a top seed in the NCAA Tournament, especially with a great performance in the conference tournament. They’ve lost some tough road games along the way, but this Kentucky team looks capable of winning these big games in March. Next week, they host LSU on a quest for revenge before a big road game at Arkansas over the weekend.
