14. Villanova Wildcats

Just one game this week for the Wildcats but it proved to be a nailbiter against UConn on the road. Villanova controlled most of the game but in the end, they let it get away from them to lose in the final moments, 71-69. Four starters were in double figures, led by 17 points from Collin Gillespie.

The loss paved the way for Providence to win this weekend and win the Big East regular-season title and the No. 1 seed for the Big East Tournament. Villanova can get some revenge against them next week, as well as complete the season sweep after the previous 89-84 victory over the Friars two weeks ago.

13. UConn Huskies

After losing 3 of 4 games a couple of weeks ago, UConn has gotten back on track, winning the last four games. That includes last week’s opponent Villanova, 71-69. Adama Sanogo led the way statistically with 20 points, while Tyrese Martin had nine points and nine rebounds. But it was RJ Cole with the key basket to give the Huskies the victory and make his case for Big East Player of the Year.

While UConn isn’t winning the conference regular-season title, that win adds to an already impressive resume. Don’t be surprised if this team can be a top-4 seed by the time Selection Sunday arrives. But they’ll have to avoid a loss in one of the final three games against Georgetown, DePaul, and Creighton this upcoming week.
