Baylor

Last year’s national champions revamped the roster, replacing a ton of talent from last year’s team. This season, they’re depending on new faces like James Akinjo and it’s working. The Bears ended last week with a very important win over Kansas and merely continued that success this week. They scored a vital road win at Texas back on Monday and held on for a fifth-straight win over the weekend, taking care of business against Iowa State.

The winner of the Big 12 Tournament, if it’s Baylor or Kansas, is likely going to be a 1-seed in the NCAA Tournament. The way the Bears have been playing in recent weeks makes them certainly look like a team worthy of that top seed. They get a chance to prove it in the conference tournament, but these recent wins over Kansas and Texas are certainly something that none of the other potential 1-seeds can claim.

Arizona

With the way Arizona has come alive this season, Tommy Lloyd is deserving of all of those coach of the year awards. The Wildcats finished the regular season 18-2 in Pac-12 play, which is phenomenal in itself. They finished off this final week of regular season play in style, getting a 20-point road win against USC, one of the other true contenders in the league. The week also included drama-free home wins over Stanford and California.

At this point, barring a monumental upset in the conference tournament, Arizona looks like they should have one of the 1-seeds locked down. This team has only lost three games all season, remains near the top of the Top 25 polls, and has played excellent on both sides of the ball throughout Pac-12 play. The only problem might be that there are more than four teams deserving of a 1-seed; though Arizona cannot be ignored if they take care of business in the Pac-12 Tournament.
