3. Auburn Tigers

The Tigers were able to win the SEC regular-season title with a 15-3 record, even though this past week wasn’t easy at all. They needed overtime to get past Mississippi State on the road, while also having a tough time at home versus South Carolina. Star freshman Jabari Smith average 24 ppg in those two wins and showed once again why they’re a national title threat.

Auburn is thoroughly in the mix for a 1 seed but likely will have to win the SEC Tournament to get one of those last couple of spots. One of those competitors is fellow SEC foe Kentucky. What better way to battle for that spot by facing off in the conference tournament title game?

2. Arizona Wildcats

After losing to Colorado last week, the Wildcats took out their frustrations on the USC Trojans, scoring 91 points on them in a complete blowout. Bennedict Mathurin had 19 points while Kerr Kriisa had 18. Arizona also scored over 80 points in home wins over Stanford and California in easy wins to win the Pac-12 regular-season title by multiple games.

The Wildcats should be a lock for a 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament but will need Gonzaga to lose to San Francisco in the WCC Tournament to have any hope of getting to the West Region. But as long as they keep playing well, Arizona will be a threat to make a deep run from anywhere.

1. Gonzaga Bulldogs

Due to how the WCC formats its tournament, the Bulldogs have yet to play since last Saturday’s loss to Saint Mary’s. As the No. 1 seed, Gonzaga had a triple-bye in the WCC Tournament so they’ll be playing on Monday against San Francisco, who defeated BYU on Saturday.

Due to teams like Duke and Wisconsin losing, the Bulldogs have effectively clinched a 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. The only question is whether they or Arizona will be the 1 seed in the West Region. Gonzaga has the edge and if they can win the WCC Tournament, will be the top overall seed as well.
