LSU Basketball: 7 candidates to replace Will Wade as head coach
By Joey Loose

When LSU is hunting for their next head coach, they will almost certainly want someone with head coaching experience at the power conference level. This isn’t a necessity by any means, but that experience could be key in keeping this LSU program in good shape, especially with whatever punishments are coming for Baton Rouge.
Considering he spent twelve years as head coach at Ole Miss, Kennedy certainly checks all those boxes. Kennedy made a slew of postseason bids with the Rebels and has done a remarkable job at his alma mater, having been head coach at UAB since 2020. Kennedy is a winner and a great recruiter who kept Ole Miss consistent in a tough SEC.
That being said, Kennedy only made a pair of NCAA Tournaments with Ole Miss, and this was before programs like Alabama, Auburn, and Tennessee were looking more like national contenders. There’s also the question of if he’d leave his alma mater for another job that could churn him out a few years down the line. Kennedy is the candidate with the SEC experience; but how much does that matter to the brass at LSU?
