Scott Drew

By doing these coaches in alphabetical order, it allows us to get this first name out of the way. Florida is a fantastic basketball program and has the resources to really make a splash hire this time around. There’s no disrespect meant towards White, who hadn’t even been in an NCAA Tournament before the Gators hired him, but if you’re going to make a splash, make a big one.

Drew is one of the biggest names in college basketball, spending the last 19 years rebuilding the Baylor program, culminating in last year’s incredible run to the national championship. A former assistant and successor to father Homer Drew at Valparaiso, he’s been entrenched at Baylor for nearly two decades and the results speak for themselves.

Would Drew leave Baylor? If the answer is yes, then Florida has the ability to fork over the money to make the move look appealing, not to mention the resources and prestige to make the Gators job an attractive landing spot. If the answer is no, then this potential home run is just a waste of energy, no matter how badly Florida fans want the administration to swing for the fences with their next hire.
