Purdue has all of the right pieces, just need to put them together

One thing that becomes more obvious as the season trudges along is that the Boilermakers have all of the right pieces to make a deep run in the NCAA tournament. On the contrary, the second thing that has become apparent is that Purdue still hasn’t found a way to put all of the pieces together just yet.

Even though the Boilermakers have not dipped outside of the top-10 so far this season, it still seems as if Purdue has not yet figured out how to consistently win just yet. If the Boilermakers are playing a more formidable opponent, they seem to play to their potential, yet have played down to their opposition when facing worse teams.

Night one of the Big Ten tournament showed that the Boilermakers could slip up early if they were not careful. Night two showed more of the same after a five-point win over Michigan State. Day three showed the Boilermakers’ true colors against a ferocious opponent.

One of the key takeaways from the Big Ten tournament is that Purdue needs to play their best ball in every game from here on out. It’s ugly when the Boilermakers are off, which became highly apparent against Iowa in the Big Ten title game, but when Purdue is on they are unbeatable.
