North Carolina Basketball: 3 keys for Round of 32 matchup against Baylor
By Bryan Mauro
Stay Consistent
North Carolina has looked like two different teams this year. The good one is the team who blew out Duke and Michigan and beat Virginia Tech twice. The bad is the team who was blown out by Miami, Duke, Pittsburgh, Wake Forest, and Kentucky. There is no in-between with North Carolina they either win by double digits or lose by double digits. Given the way their season has gone the Tar Heels could be looking at a blowout unless they can find some consistently fast.
The best way to find consistency is to keep doing the things you are good at and for North Carolina that is getting it inside to Armado Bacot and letting him work either in the paint or kicking it out to open shooters. It will also require the guards to play good games in a row. Caleb Love was unbelievable against Marquette and he was good the last game of the year against Duke, but in the games, they have lost or struggled to put up points the point guard has not played well.
If Love and Bacot are both playing well together, Leaky Black is playing good defense, and North Carolina is running great offense they are just as good as some of the top teams in the nation. As mentioned the problem is harnessing it.
Baylor is going to pose a lot of problems for North Carolina and the game could get ugly quickly if the Tar Heels do not figure out their consistency problem. Getting motivated and ready should not be a problem playing the Champs now it is just executing.
