Drew Timme, 6’10 forward, Gonzaga Bulldogs

The Gonzaga Bulldogs looked flat in the first half against the Memphis Tigers as they trailed by 10 points at the break. Then, Drew Timme woke everybody up. Timme went off for 21 of 25 total points in the second half while shooting 9-of-13 from the field and 1-of-1 from 3-point land and put everybody on notice who the catalyst on the team is.

The WCC Player of the Year has stepped up in a big way on the NCAA Tournament stage as the Bulldogs look to finally get over the hump and win their first NCAA title after falling short in last year’s title game. His efforts against the Memphis Tigers showed how he responds when scrappy defenses are in front of him.

He’ll face another scrappy squad in the Arkansas Razorbacks as he looks to continue to impress with his production on the hardwood. He’s posting 28.5 ppg, 13.5 rpg (4.0 offensive rebounds per contest), and 3.0 apg on 62.2 percent shooting from the field and 50 percent shooting from behind the arc in the tournament.

The Razorbacks will need to keep him off balance on Thursday night, or it could be a long night for them.  Granted, they’ll also need to keep Chet Holmgren and Andrew Nembhard in check as well, but everything starts when Timme is going.
