DePaul Blue Demons

Shannon comes from the Chicago area so there are going to be a couple of high-major options automatically in the picture, including the Demons. They finished one game under .500 in head coach Tony Stubblefield’s first season but showed some positive signs, led by Javon Freeman-Liberty scoring over 20 ppg.

But he’ll be gone after this season, along with key forward Brandon Johnson. 6’6 forward David Jones (14.5 ppg and 7.4 rpg) started at the three-spot this past season but he can slide to the 4 for some undersized lineups to slide Shannon over if need be. Being able to have a large role in the offense and help boost his NBA Draft stock should be an important aspect of this recruitment, although they might not be good enough to win in the Big East unless others join Shannon.

Houston Cougars

When Marcus Sasser and Tramon Mark got injured, Kyler Edwards, a former teammate of Shannon’s at Texas Tech, broke out into a star to lead them to the Elite 8. The Cougars have become one of the most consistent programs in the country and a safe haven for transfers from the Big 12 to excel.

Shannon would offer Houston size at the wing position and a security blanket in case several guards leave this offseason. The team has five-star power forward Jarace Walker joining the program and Jamal Shead should be back as the starting point guard. If Sasser and Edwards depart and with Taze Moore out of eligibility, Shannon would be a great fit as a “3 and D” guy.
