467. . . . Longhorns . 25. team

2021-22 season record: 22-12 (10-8 in Big 12)

Compared to preseason expectations, the Longhorns definitely underachieved. Yet despite the roster having so many upperclassmen on it, they actually could return just about everybody, with the exception of Tre Mitchell, who left the team midway through the season.

Of course, I doubt the coaching staff wants all of them back, as there was a clear ceiling with this cast. Look for guards Marcus Carr, Andrew Jones, and Courtney Ramey to all move on, along with Jase Febres. What they do have coming back is former Kentucky Wildcat guard Devin Askew and have five-star incoming guard Arterio Morris and top-100 point guard Rowan Brumbaugh.

Among the seniors with the option of returning, Texas probably wants leading scoring wing Timmy Allen (12.1 ppg and 6.4 rpg) back most, as well as center Christian Bishop. Vanderbilt transfer Dylan Disu was hurt for the first half of this season and did very little the rest of the way but maybe a healthy offseason will set him up for a bounce-back year.

This is a team that needs a veteran ball-handler and more size up front to be more formidable next season. And maybe head coach Chris Beard will still add transfers but not be as focused on star power but rather than those who naturally fit better in his scheme. He didn’t do that last year and it cost him in 2022.
