NCAA Basketball: 10 teams that should target Morehead State transfer Johni Broome
Kentucky Wildcats
All eyes are going to be on National Player of the Year and nation’s leading rebounder Oscar Tshiebwe, who could come back or go pro. If he comes back, obviously the Wildcats aren’t going to need Broome at the center position. However, there are some rumored issues regarding NIL that could force the big man to go pro in order to make some money.
Morehead State is from the state of Kentucky so Broome wouldn’t even have to travel far for his next stop and there might not be a bigger program in NCAA Basketball than the Wildcats in the SEC. It’s a near-perfect match and if Tshiebwe does depart, don’t be surprised if Kentucky ends up the favorite in the sweepstakes.
LSU Tigers
After the firing of Will Wade, LSU essentially lost its entire roster of players. New head coach Matt McMahon is starting over and has three players, including guards Justice Hill and Trae Hannibal following him from Murray State.
Coach McMahon is fully familiar with Broome during the battles between Morehead State and Murray State in the OVC and he’d get a chance to be a leading offensive force in the SEC instead of a role player for some other options. They do have Northwestern State transfer Kendal Coleman on board but how he translates to the SEC is a bigger question than with Broome.
