6. Indiana lands a five-star prospect in Malik Reneau

The Hoosiers got some good news a few days ago, with starting forward Race Thompson electing to come back for a 5th year after averaging 11.1 ppg and 7.5 rpg this past season. His experience and rebounding will be key for a roster that’ll likely have some turnover in the backcourt.

But there’s a chance the frontcourt can remain intact if star forward Trayce Jackson-Davis comes back from the NBA Draft process. He’s one of the best players in NCAA Basketball and the only reason why Indiana was even able to make the Big Dance this past season.

However, the Hoosiers now have a backup plan in the frontcourt in case Jackson-Davis does go pro. They landed five-star forward prospect Malik Reneau, who was a former commit at Florida before head coach Mike White went to Georgia this offseason. He’s a 6’8 forward that can score both face-up and back to the basket and gives Indiana another weapon offensively.

Picking up arguably the best available class of 2022 recruit is a big boost for head coach Mike Woodson, who also has top-30 guard commit, Jalen Hood-Schifino. If Jackson-Davis comes back, Reneau will be one of the best frontcourt bench players in the country and make this a preseason top-25 team.

Now, the Hoosiers have to focus on the backcourt and who comes back there now.
