NCAA Basketball: Top 15 pending decisions for 2022 NBA Draft
4. C Hunter Dickinson – Michigan Wolverines
2021-22 stats: 18.6 ppg, 8.6 rpg, 2.3 apg
Between the Wolverines‘ slow start and Juwan Howard’s punch towards the end of the season, Dickinson somehow flew under the radar, despite improving his stats all across the board compared to his freshman campaign.
The biggest improvement came from the three-point line, making 21 of 64 shots for 33%, which is huge considering that he made zero the year prior. Dickinson also nearly tripled his assist numbers and had 33 points against rival Michigan State in a needed win.
The big man definitely improved his stock a bit but he’s not a sure bet to get drafted still. The All-American center may not feel that he can raise his stock any higher and will just move on but that leaves a major hole in the frontcourt for Michigan, especially if both Caleb Houstan and Moussa Diabate also decide to remain in the NBA Draft as well.
That would leave incoming five-star freshman center Tarris Reed Jr. to play the five-spot, which will force the Wolverines to go portal hunting in May. I could’ve added Diabate as a decision to watch too but Dickinson is the 20 and 10 caliber big man that is a proven NCAA Basketball. And considering that the team is already losing starting guards Eli Brooks and Devante Jones in the backcourt, that’s a lot of turnover for the second year in the row.
