After yet another underwhelming regular season in which they failed to make the NCAA Tournament under Travis Steele, the Musketeers parted ways with him and brought back former Xavier coach Sean Miller to call the shots. Despite not making the Big Dance, the Musketeers won the NIT under interim head coach Jonas Hayes and finished their season on a high note.

The loss and production of Paul Scruggs won’t be easy to replace, but with a pair of top 100 guards – Kam Craft and Desmond Claude – entering the program, the Musketeers have enough bodies to fill the void. The frontcourt duo of Zach Freemantle and Jack Nunge is not only one of the best in the Big East, but one of the best in the country.

Despite the coaching change, both Adam Kunkel and Colby Jones announced they would be staying at Xavier, giving Coach Miller a solid core to work with in his first year at the helm. With a healthy Kyky Tandy and a more experienced Cesare Edwards as well, the Musketeers are in position to return to the NCAA Tournament in 2023.
