Projected Lineup

G: Andre Curbelo (Junior)

G: Montez Mathis (5th Year)

G: Dylan Addae-Wusu (Junior)

C: Joel Soriano (Senior)

The Red Storm had high expectations headed into year three of the Mike Anderson era in Queens. The year before, they finished five games over .500 and were bringing back one of the best players in the country in Julian Champagnie as well as the reigning Co-DPOY in the conference in Posh Alexander.

They started off hot in non-conference play, winning eight of their first 10 games before a loss to Pitt at Madison Square Garden set them back. They ended up in seventh place in the Big East and didn’t even make the NIT. Next year, St. John’s will be without Champagnie as he is going pro, but the return of Alexander should have the Red Storm back in the mix for the NCAA Tournament once again.

Illinois transfer and former Big 10 6th Man of the Year Andre Curbelo will join Alexander as one of the best defensive backcourts in the country. With veterans surrounding them such as Montez Mathis, Dylan Addae-Wusu, and Joel Soriano, Mike Anderson’s squad is looking solid headed into next year.
