Record: 30-8 (16-4 in Big East) – Final Four appearance

The final season for the legendary coach and it was one of his best. It will never be known if the players knew that coach was going to retire and they were playing with a little added motivation. The team was just good and showed the type of consistent powerhouse the team has turned into.

Yet another Final Four appearance, another 30-win season, another Big East tournament title, and another top 8 seed in the NCAA tournament. It was the sixth 30-win season under Wright and the 5th in the last eight seasons. It was also the third final four in the last seven seasons.

This team was built exactly like every other one over the last 10 seasons. They shot a ton of threes, did not play fast, rarely turned the ball over, and played top 25 defense. All while having a roster that had an average height of 6’5.”  That is another thing that Villanova did so well they always maximized their height and while they often were not the tallest team in the country, they made it work by denying the paint and making a ton of threes.

The bigs they did have were extremely athletic, and I say that if star Justin Moore would not have torn his Achilles in the Elite Eight matchup against Houston, Villanova would have beaten Kansas.
