Michigan Wolverines

Biggest needs: CG/PF

The backcourt will be different next season after losing veterans, Eli Brooks and Devante Jones. But the added departure of Frankie Collins to Arizona State makes it even more important to add another guard this offseason. Michigan did bring in Princeton transfer Jaelin Llewellyn, who’s more of a shooting guard than a true point guard.

Another position to watch is power forward, as both Caleb Houstan and Moussa Diabate are in the NBA Draft process and could easily be gone. If that happens, the Wolverines will need to find another forward to pair with center hunter Dickinson in the frontcourt. The clear need is a guard but depending on what happens in the next couple of weeks, Michigan will need to add another key piece.

Michigan State Spartans

Biggest needs: SF/C

The wing position is based solely on what happens with freshman Max Christie. If he comes back from the NBA Draft process, the Spartans can play both he and Malik Hall most of the minutes there. But if Christie leaves, they’ll have to go to Plan B after former target Micah Parrish opted to go to San Diego State last week.

Another area of need is at center to replace Marcus Bingham. Former top-40 prospect Mady Sissoko has played limited minutes to this point and is joined by four-star incoming big Jaxon Kohler. So right now, Michigan State doesn’t have a proven big on the roster and could use some more depth, or risk having to play a smaller lineup most of next year.
