Texas Tech Red Raiders

The team lost several key players this offseason, including leading scorer Bryson Williams to the pros, as well as guards Kevin McCullar and Terrence Shannon Jr. to the transfer portal. However, head coach Mark Adams has found three key newcomers from that portal that should have a big impact on the team next season.

The first was D’maurian Williams, a 6’5 guard that averaged 14.5 ppg and 2.6 apg at Gardner-Webb on 39% from three-point range and is one of those “3 and D” types that fits Texas Tech’s system. The next key piece coming in is a familiar face to the Red Raiders in De’Vion Harmon, a combo guard from Oregon who started his career at Oklahoma with a career average of 10.2 ppg and 2.0 apg and can be a lead ball-handler for TTU.

But the biggest get for the Red Raiders is Fardaws Aimaq, a 6’11 center and former WAC Player of the Year and 2-time WAC Defensive Player of the Year winner. He averaged 18.9 ppg and 13.6 rpg this past season and is one of the best rebounders and interior defenders in the country. Aimaq is going through the NBA Draft process but he’s likely coming back to give Texas Tech a big man to not only anchor the defense but also give double-digit production on offense.
