2. Jabari Smith – Auburn Tigers

Personally, I’m not high on Smith as others. I don’t think he’s the best player in all of the draft which with the #1 overall pick the Magic would have to be confident in making with this selection.

His being this high as a top option for the Magic is a testament to what they need on both ends of the ball. Smith on offense is primarily perimeter focused. His archetype could be along the lines of a big wing sharpshooter. There definitely needs to be a focused improvement on the dribbling and finishing aspects of his game. The Magic could fall in love with his tough shotmaking.

Defensively his lateral quickness, instinctive help side skills, and potential shot-blocking skills could just put him over the top. Smith could play a role the league has seen from both Jaren Jackson Jr. and Evan Mobley. Tall bigs that are mobile enough to be dangerous on both ends. He takes up so much space and is a fierce competitor it’s clear to see his impact.

Smith fits nicely alongside Wagner and Carter Jr. Playing alongside smart playmakers and an intuitive head coach, the Magic have themselves a really good player.
