Pittsburgh Panthers

Head coach Jeff Capel already left Duke for the Panthers’ job by the time Baker reclassified. But Capel is very familiar with the North Carolina recruiting scene and Baker is aware of the fellow ACC program in Pittsburgh.

There’s also a massive need for shooting for the Panthers, coming off a season where they were one of the worst three-point shooting teams from the high majors. They did add Marquette guard Greg Elliott to boost the shooting but they can use another rotation player that can shoot 40% from deep. And with the power forward position up for grabs, Baker can play some small-ball four to create plenty of spacing for center John Hugley.

Purdue Boilermakers

Speaking of providing space for the starting center, allowing 7’4 center Zach Edey to be alone inside is optimal. And with star guard Jaden Ivey gone as well as Sasha Stefanovic and Isaiah Thompson, the top-10 three-point shooting team from last season could use some more shooting on the roster.

Purdue also could use some veteran leadership, as they currently don’t have a senior on the roster. A 5th-year guy with plenty of experience in March and for a winning program can help Coach Painter out with more than just shooting from the perimeter. Considering that they’ve missed out on multiple transfer targets so far this offseason, landing Baker will at least make it a positive offseason.
