6. Arizona State

Bobby Hurley has made quite the impact in Tempe, but it’s impossible to talk about Arizona State without mentioning that the program has underachieved. In seven years, Hurley has yet to win a Tournament game and has finished below .500 each of the last two seasons. This past year’s team boasted an impressive defense but the worst offensive rating since Hurley took over the program.

It’s going to be an experienced lineup for the Sun Devils, with DJ Horne (12.5 ppg last year) looking to build on last season, and Marcus Bagley back from injury. Desmond Cambridge Jr. arrives from Nevada and will make an impact on the wing, while brother Devan arrives from Auburn hoping to do his damage more in the paint.

With a dynamic shooter like Desmond Cambridge, Hurley has effectively retooled this lineup and should certainly have a much more successful team than the last few seasons. This team has much more offensive talent than last season; we’ll just have to see if that defense can still play at an elite level. If it all comes together, maybe Hurley gets that first Tourney victory.
