8. Oklahoma State

This Oklahoma State team had a fantastic defense last season, but it was the offense that let them down and led to a 15-15 season. Clearly, this was not the same level of talent as when Cade Cunningham was on this team two seasons ago, but Mike Boynton still built a roster that has some serious potential.

Last year’s two top scorers are back, with guards Avery Anderson (12.1 ppg last year) and Bryce Thompson (10.6 ppg last year) looking to take steps forward. Center Moussa Cisse is back for his junior year and will be joined by a slew of returning faces, including Kalib Boone and Tyreek Smith. Boynton managed to add a few faces from the Transfer Portal, hoping to get contributions from former High Point guard John-Michael Wright and former Texas State guard Caleb Asberry.

Much of the roster remains intact, with the team as a whole expected to take a slight step forward this season. Obviously, Oklahoma State has the ability to win a ton of games next season, but they’ve got some serious issues to shore up from last year, as that team ranked near the bottom of the entire country in turnovers, free throws, defensive rebounding, and 3-point shooting. Unfortunately, there just might not be the overall talent to compete day in and day out in a tough Big 12.
