Big 12 Basketball: Way-too-early power rankings for 2022-23 season

4. TCU
TCU really hadn’t done much prior to Jamie Dixon returning to his alma mater six years ago, including a horrid start to their Big 12 tenure. Dixon hasn’t set the world on fire, but he’s gotten the Horned Frogs back into contending shape, breaking a long NCAA Tournament drought and topping that with last year’s success. TCU blasted Seton Hall, came very close to toppling top-seeded Arizona, and return most of that talent this season.
Star guard Mike Miles Jr. is back for his junior year after averaging 15.4 points per game last season, and he’s joined by forward Emanuel Miller and guard Damion Baugh, both double-digit scorers that are now seniors. The Horned Frogs will hope that center Eddie Lampkin Jr. takes a big step forward in his sophomore season while adding some depth with former Oklahoma State guard Rondel Walker.
This is the opportunity for Dixon to have his best team with the Horned Frogs, perhaps even in program history. This roster proved itself in last year’s Tournament and has shown that they can compete with the best of the best in the country. TCU is no punching bag or joke this season, especially if Miles and the other starters can continue to develop together.
