2. F Andrew Carr, Wake Forest

At Wake Forest, all transfer eyes will be on Jao Ituka and Tyree Appleby. That has allowed Andrew Carr to fly under the radar.

Carr is no slouch, though. Last season, the forward averaged 10 points per game as a member of the Delaware Blue Hens. He also pulled down 5.1 rebounds per game, taking advantage of his 6-9 frame.

The forward also demonstrated a big step forward in his perimeter game last season. During his first season in Delaware, Carr hit less than 30 percent of his three-point attempts. This season, Carr shot 40.5 percent from three.

The stretch four also led his team in blocks last season. Carr averaged 1.1 blocks per game, making a big difference with his three swats in a four-point win in the CAA Tournament final, which propelled the Blue Hens to the NCAA Tournament.

There’s an obvious blueprint for Carr to follow in Winston-Salem: Jake LaRavia.

LaRavia transferred to the Demon Deacons after two years at Indiana State and immediately blossomed into a star. He averaged 14.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.7 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game, earning All-ACC second-team honors. He could wind up being a first-round pick in the upcoming NBA Draft.

LaRavia was slightly more accomplished than Carr upon their respective arrivals to Wake Forest. But Carr is the better three-point shooter, a critical factor.

If Carr has anywhere near the impact LaRavia had last season, Steve Forbes’ team should find itself back in the NCAA Tournament.
