NCAA Basketball: Ranking the 14 matchups for 2022 ACC/Big Ten Challenge
14. Boston College at Nebraska
There’s simply not much to care for in this matchup. Boston College returns its top three scorers but Makai Ashton-Langford (12.0 ppg) as the best player on the court doesn’t create a lot of interest. Nebraska could’ve had a star returning player in Bryce McGowens but he left for the NBA Draft after one year.
There’s a good chance that both the Eagles and Cornhuskers each finish in the bottom 3 of their respective conferences. And without a star player on either side to focus on, there’s just no real reason to have an interest if you’re not a fan of either side.
13. Georgia Tech at Iowa
The Hawkeyes don’t have top-5 NBA Draft pick Keegan Murray but his brother and potential breakout star for next season, Kris Murray, is back. He’s the star attraction for Iowa next season who needs him to be a star in order to be competitive in the Big Ten. Georgia Tech needs new transfers, Javon Franklin and Lance Terry, to replace the lost production of Mike Devoe and Jordan Usher to have any hope of being decent.
Seeing how much Kris Murray improves will make this game interesting alone but that’s still not much. The Yellow Jackets may be the worst team in the ACC and this game has a real chance of not being competitive. And if it is, it’s probably because Iowa wasn’t as good as expected.
