NBA Draft 2023: Victor Wembanyama leads way-too-early mock draft
11. Amen Thompson (SG) – Overtime Elite
Amen Thompson shot the ball poorly from the 3-point and free throw lines, but his ability to create offense off the dribble and in transition will be a major weapon right away in the NBA. He rebounds his position well and is an excellent wing defender at 6-foot-7. His athleticism and quickness make him a dynamic prospect that is a jump shot away from having All-Star potential.
10. Terquavion Smith (CG) – NC State
Smith was one of the most surprising returnees to college basketball from this draft cycle. He showed off his athleticism and offensive skillset at the G League Elite Camp and Draft Combine in Chicago, working his way well into the first round on most mock draft boards but eventually decided to return to Raleigh for his sophomore season. Smith averaged 16.3 points as a freshman but shot just 39.8% from the field on an NC State team that finished in last place in the ACC.
Smith projects as an instant offense-type player at the next level, although he can potentially move into the top 10 if he can develop his point guard skills as a leader and a playmaker. He will also need to fill out physically, but that should come with continued work in the weight room and an emphasis on preparing his body for the NBA.
