Rondel Walker, 6’4 Guard, TCU Horned Frogs

Rondel Walker is yet another in-conference transfer from the portal as he makes his way from the Oklahoma State Cowboys in Stillwater to the TCU Horned Frogs in the state of Texas in the Big 12. He spent 2020-22 with the Cowboys, mostly as a reserve, before searching for a new role in the transfer portal and landing in Jamie Dixon’s TCU rotation.

Walker averaged 6.3 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 1.5 spg, and 1.0 apg across 59 games (15 starts) with the Cowboys in the past two seasons. His production dropped this past season from 7.8 ppg to 4.9 ppg as did his role in the rotation as he shot just 28 percent from 3-point range in 2021-22, compared to his 33 percent mark in 2020-21.

Walker still managed to be a presence defensively for the Cowboys despite his diminishing role on the offensive end. He turned in a career-best 92.9 defensive rating across 30 appearances off the bench in 2021-22. He’ll look to change things with a move into the Horned Frogs lineup.

TCU will lose just two players from last year’s group that went 21-13 and managed to earn a No. 9 seed in the South region of last year’s NCAA Tournament, their first appearance since 2018.
