NCAA Basketball: 10 best players from state of Wisconsin of last decade
By Joey Loose
1. Johnny Davis – Wisconsin
This 6’5 guard from La Crosse had an impactful high school career in the state of Wisconsin but his efforts at the college level would prove far superior. Davis stayed in his home state and headed to Madison to play for the Badgers. He spent the last two years at Wisconsin, with the impact during his sophomore year far beyond what many people expected from him.
As a freshman, Davis came off the bench and contributed decent minutes, averaging 7.0 points a game and helping take the Badgers to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Everything came together for him the following year and he developed into a national star as a sophomore. He averaged 19.7 points and 8.2 rebounds a game, becoming a leader for the Badgers and taking them to a Big Ten regular season title. He scored a career-high 37 points in a road win at Purdue and had numerous other breakout performances.
That breakthrough campaign for Davis saw him named Big Ten Player of the Year and a First Team All-American. The accolades are even more impressive considering the level of talent in the Big Ten last season. He was among the top scorers and rebounders in the conference and played the most important role on Wisconsin’s success, even though they faltered early in the NCAA Tournament. Following that amazing sophomore year, Davis departed and became the 10th pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. He’ll hope to continue his success with the Washington Wizards this upcoming season.
We are now done with our deep dive into the best college basketball players of the last ten years from the state of Wisconsin; how did this list compare to some of the other ones?
