Key Reserves

Guard – Kobe Johnson (Sophomore)

While Johnson had limited opportunities last year, averaging just 1.4 points per game, he did get a few sporadic starts for the Mountaineers. If he can take that big step forward as a sophomore, then there’s certainly that chance for growth for Johnson, a young guard that starred in Ohio in high school just over a year ago.

Forward – Jamel King (Sophomore)

King’s freshman year didn’t really give him opportunities, as he played just 29 minutes as a reserve for the Mountaineers. If this past year of development works out, then King could take a big step forward if he could just earn some time on the court.

Guard – Joe Toussaint (Senior)

Another transfer that West Virginia is happy to have in Morgantown, Toussaint spent the last three seasons in the Big Ten at Iowa. He played a number of roles across those last three years, but he’ll be a useful backcourt weapon who can score when needed and provide a veteran presence off the bench.

Forward – Mohamed Wague (Sophomore)

This 6’10 big man was putting up impressive numbers last season at Harcum College, but how does that success translate to the Big 12? Wague was a junior college star and one of the nation’s best rebounders and shot blockers, and the Mountaineers will hope he can develop into a similar type of threat for this program.

Guard – Seth Wilson (Sophomore)

Wilson is another sophomore that could take a big step forward this season after seeing minimal minutes as a freshman. A high-impact scorer back in high school, the Mountaineers are hoping to see Wilson as a bench player who can come out and knock down shots while continuing to develop his skills on both sides of the ball.

Forward – Josiah Harris (Freshman)

A 3-star prospect from Cleveland, Harris is a small forward who has a chance to make an impact right away with West Virginia. He was a top talent in Ohio, averaging a double-double and playing all over the court, but what will his role be in the college game?

Forward – Patrick Suemnick (Sophomore)

It’s been a wild ride for Suemnick, who’s hoping he can catch on at West Virginia. A Green Bay native who played ball in Indiana at prep school, Robert Morris as a freshman, and junior college near Chicago, Suemnick boasts versatility and is talented, but might struggle to find minutes as he continues to develop.
