Gonzaga Bulldogs

Thomas comes from the same high school that current starting forward Julian Strawther did (Liberty), so there’s a connection to look out for. This is also a team that has Nolan Hickman as the projected starter, who if he breaks out, likely won’t be around by the time Thomas would arrive anyways. Unless Zoom Diallo picks Gonzaga first in the 2024 class, there’s plenty of available room for him to come in and not only get a lot of minutes but potentially start as well.

This is a program that under head coach Mark Few, has tons of examples of great guards being developed into stars and future pros. Thomas has the potential to be the next in line and if playing for the best NCAA Basketball program out west is important, then the Bulldogs may have to be on the top of the list.

Houston Cougars

The Cougars have a current star point guard in Jamal Shead entering his junior season and won’t be around for the 2024 class. And the team has a pair of shooting guard commits in Kordelius Jefferson (2023) and Hercy Miller (2024) but no true ball-handlers in future classes to this point. This allows Thomas to have a big role early on in a program that has been guard friendly as there is in NCAA Basketball.

And with Houston going from the AAC to the Big 12, there just aren’t many “cons” for prospects to consider. The only thing is that it’s a decent trip from Nevada for Thomas but Big 12 games won’t be too far for the family to travel and see, as well as future NCAA Tournament matchups.
