Rhode Island Basketball: 2022-23 season preview for the Rams
Schedule Breakdown
As a younger team, the Rhode Island Rams may be challenged by some opponents on their schedule this season. However, head coach Archie Miller understands how to lead in the Atlantic 10 Conference. He led the Dayton Flyers for six years and helped the program the Elite Eight with 26 wins in 2014.
Coach Miller will make his debut and return to the Thomas M. Ryan Center on November 7th when the Rhode Island Rams take on the Quinnipiac Bobcats of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.
Rhody will then host back-to-back games against the Texas State Bobcats and Stony Brook Seawolves before heading down to the Cayman Islands Classic.
The tournament will consist of Rhode Island, Kansas State, Nevada, Tulane, LSU, Akron, Illinois State, and Western Kentucky from November 21st to 23rd at John Gray Gymnasium. Rhody will take on the Kansas State Wildcats on the first day and then prepare for either Tulane or Nevada in the second round.
URI will then travel to Chestnut Hill on November 27th to take on the Boston College Eagles.
Rhody has December 3rd circled on its schedule as they prepare for in-state rival Providence College Friars. This will mark the 132nd time that the annual Ocean State rivalry game is renewed between both schools. The game will be broadcasted on ESPNU.
The Rams conclude their non-conference schedule with games against Brown, Army, Umass Lowell, Georgia State, and Milwaukee.
The conference slate begins December 31st on the road against Duquesne. A couple of key Atlantic 10 matchups include January 25th against Dayton, February 18th against Massachusetts, and March 1st at Loyola Chicago.
Rhode Island will then compete in the Atlantic 10 tournament from March 8th through the 12th from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.
