Key Reserves

Forward – Jaxon Kohler (Freshman)

A talented 4-star post player, Kohler is the kind of piece who can do just about anything on the court on the offensive end. He can create offense all over the court, both in the post and from outside the arc, though he’s still developing the defensive side of his game.

Guard – Pierre Brooks (Sophomore)

After barely seeing the floor last season, Brooks is hoping to take a major step forward as a sophomore. His stats weren’t great in limited chances, but the 6’6 guard is a former Top 100 recruit who can be a matchup nightmare in the backcourt if he can figure out his game.

Guard – Jaden Akins (Sophomore)

After averaging 3.4 points as a freshman, Akins is one of the pieces that Izzo is hoping to take a major step forward this season. Akins projects as an above-average player on both offense and defense, but now he’ll get the chance to prove that. Don’t be surprised if he’s the impact piece the Spartans need off the bench.

Guard – Tre Holloman (Freshman)

A 4-star point guard from Minnesota, Holloman provides important depth for the Spartans, who likely will already have two point guards in their starting lineup. He’s tough for his size and should develop into a high-quality defender in the coming years. We’ll have to see his offensive game comes together, though he already looks like a backcourt piece who can command a competent offense.

Center – Carson Cooper (Freshman)

Cooper is the final piece of an unheralded freshman class, but this 6’10 big man has potential. There’s still the possibility that Cooper is a redshirt for this season as he develops his skills at the college level, but he might be needed as depth in the frontcourt, especially with limited options at the 5 this year.
