Key reserves for 2022-23 season

Since Prohm’s team is all newcomers, roles are more being revealed than defined. Veterans Brian Moore (junior college) and Quincy Anderson (Division 2) are talented players with strong resumes. Moore was a junior college all-American at Northeast Oklahoma A&M and Anderson was a two-time all-conference guard at Minnesota State-Mankato.

6’9 East Carolina transfer Marlon Lestin provides frontcourt depth.

Prohm had to build a roster to compete immediately, but he did not sacrifice the future. He landed five ‘lights out’ prep recruits that will likely contribute this season, but also provide the foundation for upcoming seasons.

Four big guards, Jaxon Edwards, Braxton Stacker, Patrick Chew, and Justin Morgan all stand 6’4 or better and have just finished prolific high school careers. All were ranked as a top ten prospect in their respective states.

While Morgan played at a smaller school level, he accumulated nearly 2,900 prep points. Stacker racked up 1,400 points, was a two-time all-state performer, and was named the State of Missouri’s Defensive Player of the Year. Edwards’ team won the Indiana state championship and he was the Hoosier State’s second-ranked player. Matching that second-best rating was Chew’s honor in Arizona.

Joining that quartet is 6’8 forward Sam Murray. He was Mississippi’s second-rated player and some scouting services handed him four stars. During preseason practices, he has been wowing his teammates with his above-the-rim skills.

Most if not all of the rookies will contribute this season depending on how long or short Prohm wants his bench.
