Schedule Outlook

Tulane Basketball opens the non-conference schedule with three home matchups against UMBC, McNeese State, and Charleston Southern, respectively. The Green Wave should get through these early games unscathed considering none of these opponents are in the top 250 of the preseason KenPom ratings.

The team then travels to the Cayman Islands Classic, where they will face off against a respectable Nevada squad in their first game of the eight-team event. Tulane is guaranteed three games in the Cayman Islands, the second of which will be against one of Rhode Island or Kansas State. From there they could see one of Illinois State, LSU, Akron, or Western Kentucky. Overall, Tulane Basketball’s trip to the Caymans will pit them against a few decent opponents and give a good indication of what can be expected moving forward.

Ron Hunter and company will come home from their tropical trip and have three more home games, the highlight of the three being a Dec. 6 game versus America East contender Bryant. The Green Wave will then spend two weekends away from home, first in Atlanta to face Buffalo for the Holiday Hoopsgiving event, then in Chicago as they match up with George Mason in the Legends of Basketball Showcase. Tulane closes its non-conference schedule at home versus Mississippi Valley State.

Tulane opens its AAC schedule against two of the most challenging opponents they will see in conference play. The Green Wave will face both Memphis and Cincinnati four days apart, two squads generally considered to be in the upper tier of the AAC. Because the AAC schedule is two games against every team, Tulane will have a similar set of circumstances facing Memphis and Cincinnati consecutively in February. And there are also the two games against powerhouse Houston looming. Tulane’s talent aside, their NCAA Tournament at-large hopes could boil down to how they perform in those six conference games.
