Oklahoma Sooners – Wins over Nebraska, Seton Hall, and Ole Miss

The ESPN Events Invitational didn’t have a lot of great opportunities to boost one’s resume. But with Florida State being shockingly awful and Siena playing spoiler, there were plenty of landmines to deal with as well. The Sooners were the ones that avoided any bad losses in this event and after losing to Sam Houston State to open the season, they can’t really afford another blunder before league play.

The hope for Oklahoma is that Ole Miss, once they get back guard Daeshun Ruffin, can turn into a quality victory and Seton Hall has potential as well. But avoiding losing to Siena and/or Florida State was the main goal and they accomplished that.

Purdue Boilermakers – Wins over West Virginia, Gonzaga, and Duke

In the week before this, it was Virginia who got the massive victories and the national attention that followed. From “Feast Week”, it’s going to be Purdue, who won the PK85 Legacy Bracket with back-to-back wins over top-10 teams, Duke and Gonzaga. Big man Zach Edey has become the National Player of the Year favorite and the team has gone from unranked to likely in the top 10 themselves in the next updated ranking.

If there were any questions as to whether or not Purdue was an NCAA Tournament team from the preseason, that’s been answered this week. And thanks to these two marquee victories, the Boilermakers can now talk about getting a potential top-tier seed in March as well.
