Creighton Bluejays – Wins over Texas Tech and Arkansas, loss to Arizona

After four home games against inferior competition, the Bluejays validated its preseason top-10 ranking with a pair of wins over ranked opponents in the Maui Invitational. Texas Tech and Arkansas are two impressive resume-builders and outside of UConn, could be the best wins the Big East program will get all season.

Creighton has a road game this week at Texas that now certainly isn’t a “must-win” when it comes to having a top-4 resume. They may not have beaten Arizona for the title but they got exactly what they needed during Feast Week.

Alabama Crimson Tide – Wins over Michigan State and UNC, loss to UConn

The Tide may have gotten a rough draw in the PK85 Invitational, ending up facing a trio of ranked foes. But they got two wins out of it, including one against the Spartans that looks much more impressive than anyone would’ve expected in the preseason. And the win over No. 1 North Carolina in quadruple overtime will also go a long way.

Alabama still has a couple of top-10 opponents in the non-conference in Houston and Gonzaga, before the bevy of opportunities ahead of them in SEC play. They showed last year that they can beat top opponents but the key is not losing to inferior teams to wash it away. How they look in the next couple of weeks will show if they’ve changed.
