Xavier Musketeers – Win over Florida, losses to Duke and Gonzaga

The PK85 Tournament wasn’t a bad week for the Musketeers, as they defeated Florida in round 1 but lost games to top-10 teams, Gonzaga and Duke. The issue wasn’t the losses but rather that they had second-half leads in both of them and had really good opportunities to get a massive resume-building win in Feast Week.

And after losing a close game to Indiana as well in the week prior, that’s now three missed chances to get a huge win. This is a team that certainly looked improved under new head coach Sean Miller and has NCAA Tournament potential but now needs the close the deal on wins that will create the resume worthy.

Seton Hall Pirates – Win over Memphis, losses to Oklahoma and Siena

The ESPN Events Invitational ended up being a wild tournament, with the Siena Saints of all teams finishing in 3rd place. While they look like they can contend in the MAAC, it’s still a bad loss for a team like Seton Hall which seems to be going through some things at the moment.

The loss to Oklahoma wasn’t bad but the victory over Memphis will be washed away now. The Pirates do have a major opportunity this week with a road game at Kansas which could make this a moot point but otherwise, they’ll have plenty of work to do in the Big East.
