10 teams that did most damage in Bracketology during 2022 Feast Week
Temple Owls – Losses to St. John’s and Richmond
The Owls were a team that could’ve gone either way after the first couple of weeks into the season. They had wins over Villanova and Rutgers, while also losing to Wagner and Vanderbilt, albeit in overtime. The Empire Classic was an opportunity to at least get another win over a power conference opponent. Instead, they lost to both St. John’s and Richmond to fall to 2-4 on the season.
Neither of those is bad losses but at this point, Temple just doesn’t look like an NCAA Tournament team, despite the talent they have on the roster. And making matters worse, Villanova, which was supposed to be their signature win, also went winless this past week and isn’t looking good on their own end. This likely ends any real hope of the Owls being relevant this season.
North Carolina Tar Heels – Win over Portland, losses to Iowa State and Alabama
After struggling to beat mid-majors and then Portland in the opening of the PK85 Tournament, it looked as if the Heels were on borrowed time before more talented programs took advantage of their mediocre play. And that’s exactly what the Cyclones and Crimson Tide did this past weekend, though it took four overtimes for the second loss to happen.
This weekend didn’t hurt UNC’s chances of making the NCAA Tournament but if they were to lose to Indiana in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, then their lack of a resume would be a concern for a team hoping to get a top-seed. Who knows, maybe the Tar Heels are destined to be an 8-9 seed again.
