NCAA Basketball: UConn, Purdue rise on top 25 power ranking after Feast Week

14. Kentucky (4-2)
Kentucky is a great program and this year might even be a great team, but they just haven’t taken care of business in the big moments in the first month of the season. The Wildcats dropped games to Michigan State and Gonzaga before this week but did get back on track with an easy home win while many other teams were away at holiday tournaments. Suffice to say, it wasn’t exactly a week where we learned anything at all about this program.
The Wildcats scored a 96-56 home win over North Florida back on Wednesday, led by double-doubles from both of their frontcourt weapons. Jacob Toppin had 20 points and 10 rebounds while defending national player of the year Oscar Tshiebwe had another nice performance, a 16-point, 15-rebound effort in the easy win. Additionally, Antonio Reeves had 20 points and has really stood out for the Wildcats early on this season after transferring from Illinois State.
To this point, the Wildcats have easily won the games they were supposed to won and have come up short in the games against legitimate competition. The issue for the Wildcats is that they aren’t in of those holiday tournaments and have few chances to prove themselves before SEC play begins in late December. Still, Tshiebwe continues to look like one of the best players in the nation, and the Wildcats get an intriguing game against Michigan next week, hoping to finally have a complete performance in a national game.
