UNC drops, Virginia and Virginia Tech rises in latest ACC Basketball power rankings

The Eagles have dealt with some injury issues of their own so far. Starting forward Quentin Post has yet to play, while freshman guard Donald Hand is out for the year after suffering an injury. And junior DeMarr Langford is averaging fewer than 6.0 ppg and coming off the bench while being banged up as well.

But the issue that Boston College has is that this remains a group of solid players with no stars. Jaeden Zachary had the chance after a great freshman campaign but he’s currently tied with Makai Ashton-Langford for the team scoring lead at 11.0 ppg. There’s no true point guard on the team, ranking in the bottom 15 nationally in assists, while also shooting under 29% from three-point range as a team.

The frontcourt core of CJ Penha, TJ Bickerstaff, and Devin McGlockton has been solid but defensively, they miss Post’s size inside. This team has lost games to Maine and Tarleton State, while also in last-minute games with other mid-majors.

BC wraps up the non-conference with games against Stonehill and New Hampshire, along with Villanova in between. Going 2-1 should be the goal while getting as healthy as possible. But right now, the Eagles are just a slight bump ahead of the bottom two since they actually have multiple D-I victories to speak of.
