Mid-major Player of the Week – Clarence O. Daniels II

The winner of the mid-major Busting Brackets Player of the Week award is one that is going to be up for much debate this week. There were a ton of great individual performances and an argument can be made for almost everyone on this list to be the winner of the award. The winner of the award this week is in his first season of Division 1 college basketball and is playing for a team with virtually no history but made history this week. The Wildcats won for the first time in 23 meetings in Chestnut Hill when they beat Boston College earlier this week.

Daniels scored 34 points and had 14 rebounds to spark the upset win. The junior guard was hitting shots from everywhere on the floor and the moment was never too big for him. The guard was awarded the America East player of the week for his performance over the last week as well. It doesn’t matter to me as my rankings are independent of conference awards but it is nice to see that Daniels II was still getting the recognition he deserves from his conference.

Do not sell the junior short on what he accomplished vs Saint John’s after the huge Boston College win. He was still able to secure a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. The Red Storm have one of the best frontcourts in the country and the fact that Daniels was able to go blow for blow with their bigs tells you how good he is going to be as the year progresses and heading into next year. Daniels is already in the top 5 nationally for rebounds per game and it is going to only get better. Congratulations Clarence on your fantastic week on the hardwood.
