NCAA Basketball: Clarence Daniels II and Isaiah Wong among Players of the Week
By Bryan Mauro
Power Conference Player of the Week – Isaiah Wong
In what was the obvious choice for the power five Player of the Week the Miami point guard was able to secure his first Busting Brackets player of the week award. The other players didn’t have enough and either didn’t play enough games or didn’t stand out as Wong did. The Miami guard separated himself with the 36-point game, but he further separated himself from the field with his ability to stuff a stat sheet with multiple rebounds and almost double-digit assists in both games.
High assist numbers are not something that should ever be a problem for Wong or the Hurricanes as I mentioned that they have a ton of capable players and are one of the best starting fives in the country they can get scoring from anywhere on the floor but the junior point guard is the best player and the most skilled offensive player on the floor most every night for the Hurricanes. Wong is the one piece for Miami that is not going to be easily replaced.
The Hurricanes made the surprise run to the Elite Eight a season ago and this year don’t be surprised if Miami makes it even further. They are the one team who has the talent to win it but no one is talking about. They are a dangerous team who can really make life hard on the opponents especially when their point guard is scoring 36 points per game. Wong can score from all over the floor. He gets in the paint with ease where he is extremely quick, gets downhill, uses a spin move, or just outruns you to the basket and he is a fantastic three-point shooter.
Wong is playing at a very high level right now and he will likely win this award again. Congratulations to Isaiah Wong and the Miami Hurricanes basketball program for his win for Power 5 Player of the Week.
