10. Seton Hall Pirates – 7-7 (0-3)

When Shaheen Halloway, former head coach of the cinderella Saint Peter’s Peacocks, was hired this offseason, there was a good amount of hype with the Pirates’ program. But 14 games in, not only is Seton Hall .500 overall, but they also are last in the Big East standings until Georgetown and DePaul play another game.

The one concern coming in was the possible lack of offense, as they don’t have anyone that averages more than 11.0 ppg. And while the defense has been good, it needs to be great in order to beat the top 50 competition in the Big East. Having a healthy Dre Davis will certainly help matters but unless they make a run in the next couple of weeks, the Pirates are in danger of having no postseason hopes this season.

9. Louisville Cardinals 2-11 (0-3)

A case can be made that they’re the biggest disappointment in NCAA Basketball but I predicted that they’d win 2-3 games at most in ACC play. So the overall result isn’t a shock, considering that the Cardinals have just one true guard in the rotation in El Ellis, who is averaging 17.1 ppg and 4.3 apg. The issue is that the frontcourt, which was supposed to be some kind of strength, has been collectively mediocre, with no one else putting up over 8.0 ppg.

While they did get a nice win over Western Kentucky, Louisville has four home losses to mid-major programs and a trio of double-digit defeats in ACC play. Unless they can find a way to trip up Georgia Tech or Boston College, they’re in jeopardy of going winless in league play. And based on the current roster construction, there’s not much hope with them.
