13. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets – 8-6 (1-3)

The Yellow Jackets had a three-game homestand that started with double-digit losses to both Virginia and Clemson. They’re two of the better teams in ACC Basketball but not being competitive at home is a bit disheartening. They had one more shot to get a win with another good team in Miami coming to town.

This time though, they took advantage. Georgia Tech led at the break and kept it close before taking over in the final minutes for a 76-70 upset victory. It was the best game for guard Lance Terry this season, scoring 24 points and six rebounds. Miles Kelly, the lone double-digit scorer on the year, had 20. And both Dallan Coleman and Jalon Moore were in double figures in the lineup as well.

Considering that they were averaging around 60 ppg in the first three ACC games, offense against power conference competition was a major concern. If they can get more guys to consistently chip in alongside Kelly, they’ll have a chance to win more games in league play.

That starts this weekend on the road at Florida State, which has been one of the more disappointing teams in NCAA Basketball. But they won’t have Baba Miller in the game, serving the last of his suspension. Let’s see if the Yellow Jackets can find a way to benefit with another win.
